After realising one of my many dreams to tandem skydive over Coolum Beach on the Sunshine Coast, and the fantastic feedback from those who attended and shared the experience with me, we have decided to plan and book another skydiving day. This time we are heading off to Toogoolawah on the weekend of the 2 nd and 3 rd October 2010.
After jumping at Coolum beach we quickly realised the limitations of only being able have two jumpers make the leap of faith at the same time. At the Ramblers Drop Zone Toogoolawah ( map) we have the ability to take up to six at a time. The added bonus is each jump is at a much reduced price, additionally instead of jumping at only 10,000ft at Coolum Beach you get to Jump at 14,000ft which means a much longer free fall allowing more time to enjoy the experience.
The basic plan is to drive up on the 2 nd of October and stay overnight. Saturday afternoon and evening will be purely social, complete with a bomb fire and BBQ before getting up with the Kookaburras to spend the Sunday on the tarmac and enjoying the buzz and outstanding view under a silk canopy. DETAILS OF THE JUMP
Pre-Jump Training
The skydiving ground training before your Tandem jump is easy and is approximately 15 minutes in duration. You are fitted with a jumpsuit and harness and are taught the positions required for exiting the aircraft, for free fall, for the opening of the parachute and for the landing.
The Big Leap
At exit altitude, approximately 14,000 feet, the aircraft flies over the top of the landing area, (DZ), in this case Toogoolawah - see map. The door opens and it’s show time. Smile to your video camera flyer and go for it – JUMP!
Aircraft Ride to Height
You board the aircraft with your skydiving Instructor and climb to exit altitude – skydiving is mostly about FREE FALL, yahoooo, so the higher you go the more you get! The ride to height is a terrific 15-20 minute flight taking in the sights.
The moment you exit the plane, your fears will vanish and be replaced with sensations of absolute FUN, SPEED and ENJOYMENT. Free fall is one of the most exhilarating and exciting feelings known to the human race, and you get to enjoy it for up to one whole minute – yahoo!
Then, at 5,000ft your skydiving Instructor pulls the ripcord to open your tandem parachute. You will slow down within 3 – 6 seconds. The opening of the parachute is an awesome feeling – while you will be disappointed the free fall had to end, you will be very happy to feel that parachute opening above you!
The Parachute Flight
Flying around under canopy is a breathtaking sensation and the view is fantastic. Your Tandem Skydive Instructor will even let you try flying the parachute! This is a unique feeling of flight and for most people the parachute ride is as exciting as the free fall. After approximately 5 minutes of flying your Instructor will guide the parachute down for a pinpoint landing.
Certificates etc
On completion of your jump you will receive a certificate, sticker, a gift and a Ramblers Rewards discount voucher.
